Acne

ACNE
If your acne is making you feel self-conscious, or if breakouts are causing you pain, Intense Pulsed Light
treatment greatly reduces the number and severity of active lesions, lessening the inflammation and
frequency of breakouts. The gentle heating of the skin promotes fibroblast activity and stimulates
collagen which reduces mild acne scarring and accelerates the healing process.

HOW DOES THIS TREATMENT WORK?
The light emitted from the IPL system directly targets over-active sebaceous glands, greatly reducing the
total number and severity of active lesions, and lessening the inflammation and occurrence of break-
outs. The light stimulates the production of new collagen to improve skin texture, and can also reduce
the appearance of red or brown areas of the skin that are often associated with acne breakouts.

AM I SUITABLE FOR TREATMENT?
Most people are suitable for treatment, however, you must not be currently taking Roaccutane and be
clear from your system for 6 months. A full consultation is carried out prior to your appointment to
assess your suitability.

HOW DOES TREATMENT FEEL?
Treatment is mildly uncomfortable but no anaesthesia is required. Many people describe the sensation
as similar to a flick of an elastic band.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER TREATMENT?
Immediately after treatment the skin may appear red and warm tingling sensation may be felt. Typically,
the skin is cooled to ease any discomfort and a calming gel is applied.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
The treated area can become quite red immediately after treatment but this usually disappears within a
couple of hours. Most people experience no other side effects but rarely the skin could temporary
become lighter or darker which should only last a couple of days.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NECESSARY?
The number of treatments necessary varies from person to person, but typically 6 IPL and 6 exfoliate treatments will offer best results, depending on your skin and concerns.
